We organize private tours to our destinations for your group of 8 or more!

Whether you are part of a student organization, church group, professional delegation, or simply a group of friends or family interested in sharing in a meaningful cultural exchange and learning about food sovereignty—we can recommend a destination and theme that fit your needs and put you in touch with the individuals and groups working on the food issues that you care about. We have organized private tours for a number of professional, faith-based, academic and advocacy organizations including the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy’s Food and Community Fellows (IATP) and EHNE-Bizkaia, the Basque Farmers’ Union.

Please contact us at foodsovtours@foodfirst.org or (510) 654-4400 ext. 223 to discuss your trip ideas and any questions you have. Please allow us at least six to eight months to plan your trip. Once we have discussed the trip destination, preferred dates, duration and objectives with us, you will fill out and submit a Private Food Sovereignty Tour Application along with a setup fee of $1,000. This setup fee will be applied towards your group’s total tour cost. The set up fee guarantees your tour’s space on our calendar and is nonrefundable. However, this set up fee may be transferred to another available date or to one of our public Food Sovereignty Tours within one year.

Please Note: 

While we can alter our Food Sovereignty Tour itineraries to accommodate some of your group’s interests, we do not offer completely customized trips and will need to take into account the availability of our hosts and best time of year in our destination countries. We are happy to discuss ideas with your group.
