The international Nyéléni newsletter is the voice of the international movement for food sovereignty. 

The main goal of Nyéléni is to strengthen the grassroots of the movement by providing accessible material on key issues and creating a space for individuals and organizations involved in the struggle to exchange their experiences and share information. It would not be possible to produce the newsletter without valuable contributions from members of the movement in the form of articles, illustrations, knowledge and suggestions, as well as financial support.

EN          Migration and Food Sovereignty

The so-called migration crisis has taken a highly tragic turn. Many escape due to the violence of the wars of occupation, others do so because of the disasters of the climate crisis and many more because of the inequities of this voracious and savage capitalism system.

For our part, the Collective on Migrations of La Vía Campesina proposes to understand migration as an act of resistance by the dispossessed.

When human beings leave their families, their communities and their lands, they are challenging the system that has condemned them to disappear as peasants, as indigenous people, as women, as people of color, as youth, as another culture, as a community and as a people.

By understanding migration in this way, we recognize in the struggle of La Vía Campesina the key role of migrants and their potential as actors of change.

La nueva edición del Boletín Nyéléni es ahora en línea!  

La llamada crisis migratoria ha tomado un giro altamente trágico. Muchos escapan debido a la violencia de las guerras de ocupación, otros lo hacen a causa de los desastres de la crisis climática y muchos otros por las inequidades de este voraz y salvaje sistema capitalista.

Por nuestra parte, el Colectivo sobre Migraciones de La Vía Campesina propone comprender la migración como un acto de resistencia de los desposeídos. Cuando los seres humanos dejan sus familias, sus comunidades y sus tierras, ellos están desafiando el sistema que los ha condenado a desaparecer como campesinos, como gente indígena, como mujeres, como personas de color, como la juventud, como otra cultura, como una comunidad y como un pueblo.

Al comprender la migración de esta manera, nosotros reconocemos en la lucha de La Vía Campesina el rol principal de los migrantes y su potencial como actores de cambio.

La nouvelle édition du Bulletin Nyéléni est maintenant en ligne!

La soi-disante crise migratoire a pris un tournant pour le pire. Beaucoup fuient à cause de la violence des guerres d’occupation, d’autres fuient à cause des désastres de la crise climatique et beaucoup plus encore à cause des inégalités du système capitaliste qui est vorace et sauvage.

Pour notre part, le Collectif sur les Migrations de la Via Campesina propose de comprendre la migration comme un acte de résistance par ceux qui sont dépossédés. Quand des être humains laissent leurs familles, leurs communautés et leurs terres, ils remettent en question le système qui les a condamnés à disparaître en tant que paysans, en tant qu’indigènes, en tant que femmes, en tant que personnes de couleur, en tant que jeunes, comme personne venant d’une autre culture, en tant que communauté et en tant que personne.

En comprenant la migration de cette manière, nous reconnaissons dans la lutte de la Via Campesina le rôle-clé des migrants et leur potentiel en tant qu’acteurs du changement.
